12th STATION: DYING AND THE EXTENSION OF LIFE, End of the Museum - 12 Stations, Trans-, Art Project Kobe 2019, Marugo Ichiba Market, Kobe, Japan 2019

Gregor Schneider

Marugo Ichiba Market, opened more than a century ago in 1918, was struck by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake on January 17, 1995, but fortunately it was closed for the day and escaped the subsequent fires, surviving and becoming known as the “miracle market.” Awaiting visitors here at the final station are the elderly inhabitants of the digital world who came into being at the station 1. On the final day of TRANS-, the proliferation of ghostly presences will fuse into a single entity.
